Gathering of the Devils (魔人集結す, Majin Shūketsusu) is the eighteenth chapter of the Trigun manga.
Summary[]
While riding on a bus Vash, reflects on his encounter with Legato and his thoughts on the man. He then spots a man with a big cross in the desert and when checked up on by the bus driver begs for help. Inside the bus, he quickly gulps down a flask of water and thanks the passengers who rescued him. They take no credit and direct his attention to Vash and company. The man who was a minister recognizes Vash and nearly blurts out his name, but Vash stops him. The minister introduces himself as Wolfwood and they then shake hands.
Meanwhile, in the town Legato was in, he's confronted by the remaining bandits that he killed in the saloon. In response to this, Legato has his colleagues take care of half of the bandits.
Back to the bus, Wolfwood manages to successfully haggle with the bus driver for a discounted fare. Talking with Vash, he reveals that he runs an orphanage. Just then two boys approach them and try to pickpocket Vash, but Wolfwood stops them. He then gives them each a single coin and because of Wolfwood's subtle stomach rumbling noise, Vash promises to treat him to lunch later.
Returning to Wolfwood, with a huge pile of corpses behind him, dictates to the bandit leader his logic of why he only chose to kill half of his men. He praises the work to his colleagues nearly the remaining number of Gung-Ho-Guns.
