Assault (強襲, Kyōshū) is the fifth chapter of the Trigun manga.
Summary[]
The insurance girls have taken part-time jobs on the steamer to cover their transit costs, and Vash finds them there while buying food for the boy. He cuts his contact with the girls short and takes food to the boy, who eats most of it. There’s a brief exchange about the big fall of the seeds ships before the boy drugs Vash and sets about signaling the Bad Lad Gang in attacking. The attack goes without a hitch. Kaite has disarmed most of the Flourish’s defenses, and Brilliant Dynamites Neon congratulates him on a job well done before ordering his men to gather all the passengers into the party hall. Vash is passed over in the roundup, as he dreams of Rem, trying to find some reassurance. Her pep talk is about blank tickets to the future and always tries his hardest. He wakes up from the dream jammed between the bed and the wall, apparently shaken from the dream, just as one of the Bad Lads kicks in the door to his room in a very cursory search.
Upon gathering everyone, B.D.N. is disappointed in what little amount of valuables the passengers had until one of the Bad Lads brings his attention to the vault built into the hull of the Flourish. With no one on board able to open it, he decides to run the steamer off Enora cliff. Directing the engineers toward that end, he again drives the point home that nothing is worth doing without doing with style.
